Last winter a proposal to put condos on the Barrier Bar Park was floated by Steve Thomas of Oswego, the then owner of the Boat House Marina. (Mr Thomas has since sold his marina). Over 300 signatures opposing this move by a developer who already owns a large stretch of empty shoreline on Fair Haven Bay were quickly collected, no small achievement in the middle of the winter in Fair Haven when many seasonal residents are absent. As a result of our vocal opposition to the sell off the Sterling Town Supervisor was quoted in a news story in March 06 as no longer favoring development.
