Welcome to the West Barrier Bar of Little Sodus Bay on the south shore of Lake Ontario, one of the last undeveloped public barrier bar beaches on the south side of the lake. And we, the Bar Tenders, want to keep it this way wild and free.
The barrier bar in its natural state is an increasingly rare, even endangered landform. These little bits of land, almost islands surrounded by water intrigue and enchant. All along the U.S. coasts barrier bars are also attracting development. Our purpose is to promote appreciation for this unique and much needed place by the shore. We want it to continue to be a place where humans and wild things alike can come and go.
This website is being built and maintained by a group of local and out of town park users and supporters who want to see the park remain in the public realm and in its undeveloped state. No condos. No base ball diamonds. No skateboard parks. Just a place to stroll and enjoy the lake in its increasingly hard to find natural state. Visit this site for updates as we work to PRESERVE OUR PARK.
